put up or persevered with.
Going on the thread about watching a tv drama programme because of the writer, review. To follow it for weeks and then come to the end and realise what a waste of time. Do you do that, read a book, or see a film, perhaps something else, and wished you hadn't bothered, any examples?

i usually continue on hoping that it will get better, and don't always know when to throw the towel in when it doesn't. Having said that there have been films i really believed would be wonderful, the reviewers raved and stamped their feet in appreciation, only to find it was a raspberry, or should have been given one. like the French Lieutenants woman, the book was bad enough but the film was dire.
The book of the Da Vinci Code, I read it because of all the hype but really struggled to finish it, I was so relieved to be done with it that it went straight in the charity shop bag instead of back on the bookshelf.

My family, not mine but the tv sitcom, the biggest load of drivel on tv, how has it managed to stay the course for so long.. waste of two good actors.

daffy, i thought it was rubbish, got to the end and wondered another week of my life i won't get back..
I usually manage to finish books of that length in a day or two em, this one took me weeks because I kept putting it down to read other books I had bought. I only finished it because I had completely run out of other reading material.
