Lost Sense Of Smell

i had flu and bronchitis two weeks ago, after it cleared up i realized i had no sense of smell can anyone tell if it will return any time soon or should i see the doctor.

Well, if it was a viral infection that caused your illness and it was the virus that affected the olfactory nerve, then little can be done.

However if the loss of smell was due to lining inflammation in the nose, then it may well return.

You will have to wait and see.

I lost sense of smell /4 years ago - totally. It never came back :(

I lost mine after an operation in 1994, it has never returned.

I lost my sense of smell a few of years ago and it lasted for over a year -think it was due to over use of nasal sprays. It sounds unimportant but is awful as your sense of taste tends to go to - I would just leave it a couple of weeks and if there is no change maybe see your GP but I was told there isn't much you can do
