Fear Of Crime Combatted By Knitting?
It would seem that people in Leicester have come up with a novel way of reducing the "fear" of crime. It made me smile. How about you?

They are having a laugh aren't they/
Certainly not the British sense of humour, but then that's ok, it's Leicester.

It's clear from some of the comments quoted in the report that people have misunderstood/been misinformed about the purpose of this, which seems to be not to make the place safer but make it FEEL safer. The thinking presumably being for one thing to reduce fear, which isn't a very nice thing and can cause lots of problems in itself, and second maybe to encourage more law-abiding people onto the streets, which would be a positive thing.
