I'd check with a vet in case there's a cause you're not aware of, and need to be. If everything seems to be okay, I'd just leave them to it; it might just be that they've lost their appetite. Perhaps they've been a bit overfed over Christmas (like the rest of us!). Animals are more in tune with their bodies than we are, and if they need a break from eating they'll just stop, whereas we often tend to just carry on eating out of habit.
See a vet, and in the meantime just offer them a little food, and it they refuse it, don't offer any more til the next usual meal time. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water available regardless.
If this is a sudden change in eating habits.. then I would say a trip to the vets is on the cards.
Do you give them lots of tidbits or let them sit near you whilst you are eating.
If you put their food down and they have shown no interest after fifteen or so minutes then take the food away and put food down again for the next mealtime.Don't worry they won't starve.Make sure they have plenty of fresh water.
They may be just trying it on.I have a GS/Lab and he is the master of tricks to get me to pander to him.!! But ..I pay no attention.
I feed Shane dry food with the addition of a drop of gravy and a couple of times a week sardines. He loves them .Try a drop of Vitapet on the food...this is a good way of giving them a shiny coat and tastes fishy which most dogs love.
Sometimes the more you worry ..they sense this and have you on..dogs are quite intelligent in that respect !!
When my GSD will not eat when she was a year old I was told that her teeth may still be giving her trouble since she was growing still and they were trying to settle in, I had to wait it out, but I offered food and got some wheat grass from the pet store and she ate that too to help calm her digestive system, and I did not give her anything else no treats or biscuits, it was food or nothing for her, on a routine time schedule, she went on for about a month and then back to normal and now when she goes off her feed, the vet said to give her pepcid ac for some days when her tummy goes upset, she has a sensitive tummy the vet said, check with your vet, feed a high quality food, Canned:have you tired to warm it up a bit, heat brings out the aroma and flavor in some things, better at body temp.
When she was a pup she had to eat, so I tried different things like above, and I finally got her to eat more when I boiled chicken and chopped it up into her food, her teeth hurt but the chicken was to tempting, As time went on I put less and less in her food and now she eats just dry kibble at times and I add canned when possible because she needs the extra liquid per the vet, for crystals in her urine.
