Stretch Marks On A Growing Boy

My friends son is 15 and 6f 2", he has stretch marks on his back and has being told this is a sign of growing. Has anyone else had this with their children? Also is he likely to grow much taller?

Stretch marks aren't uncommon. I've seen plenty of shirtless teenagers - (Nothing kinky! Just running school football teams!) - and it's likely that most teenagers have some stretch marks (but they just show up on some young people more than others).

Yes, my 6ft tall 15 year old son has them.

So has mine. He has had them for ages, they look awful, and don't seem to fade at all.

My friend thought they were passion marks until someone told her they were growing marks.

yes - normal as boys that size do go through huge growth spurts. they are not pretty, but most people have them (reassure him). my 19 year old monster is 6'6'' with size 15 fee and i despair of him ever stopping growing! i wouldn't mind, but i'm only 5'2'' and i look ridiculous next to him x

When my youngest son was 15 and 6st 2 he had them and i took him to our GP who referred him to a specialist who said it was to do with the calogen (I think it was ) in his muscles not keeping up with the muscle growth. That's perhaps not quite right but it was along those lines. My GP had frightened my son by saying his heart muscles would be the same. He also said my son has spike milligan knees, i.e, they were on backwards, which is another symptom of the growing issues

BTW my son is 26 now and they faded when he was about 22

often tall boys suffer from osgood-schlatters disease - where the ligaments and muscles just can't keep up with bone growth and it leads to weak knees etc. my poor lad is facing surgery on both his knees already :-(

ahh yes that's it, I remember now that sounds right because I think I joked about them calling a disease after a footballer, my son had to give up football because of it
