In addition we are living longer and therefore able to pass on any of our defective genes for a longer period of time. This especially applies to men who could father a child into their 90s.
Another factor is that we can control our home environment . We can ensure our food and water is safe. We can control the temperature of our homes and other home comforts so our bodies don't naturally adapt to our surroundings . Which had been a major factor in our evolution .
Overall the human gene pool may in fact be deteriorating .
