daffy, no one is looking down their nose at you

I think nets are like Marmite - love them or loathe them
Not Marmite as far as I'm concerned. I can take them or leave them, but have to have them as I'm in a bungalow with the main bedroom at the front of the building
My views on net curtains are a bit obscure.
I don't really like them, I have to have them in my bedroom or else all and sundry sitting on the top deck of the bus can see straight into my bedroom ! I do not have them downstairs.
I used to have voile nets until the cats strated wrecking them. I'm on the main road and our house is dark - I've now got vertical blinds, love 'em.

I hate the nets with peephole bits at the bottom, pointless - café curtains are just about ok if you must.
Boxtops, please don't say peephole and bottom in the same sentence. Shudder.
LOL
My last house was in the same position as Daffy's. Voile fabric wasn't available when I moved in so, on a trip back to Canada, OH went to our old house and brought back our voiles. I adapted them and they looked gorgeous. Soon after I put them up a lady knocked on the door and said the curtains looked great but she missed being able to look into our house on her way to and from work!
Don't need them now as I live in a cul-de-sac but I have black vertical blinds.. quite see through..... on the back of the house. For sun and privacy.
So I'm with Daffy and as long as they are clean and fall in nice folds nets/voiles can look good.
They allow you to romp around in the nuddy, I guess.............
If it was upto me I would get rid of them because I much prefer natural light but unfortunately everyone else feels its too open and that people can see in. The nets I do have are not heavy and do let a fair amount of light in. We only have nets at the front of the house, not the back.
Oh...they do DT.... ;-)
I like them and mine are very pretty. I live in a terrace like daffy and it wouldn't be private without them.
Have voile panels in my living room and a cafe net at the top of my kitchen window. More ornament than use as I like lots of daylight and use slatted blinds at night.
I don't have any curtains, of any description, in the entire house...........
Never had any in about 20 years..... Only people to have curtains where I live are Itailains.......

Hate them!!
Do not have net curtains anywhere in the flat. Am careful to dress and undress in the bathroom (frosted glass and a radiator).
