Look, I was there today, and it was nothing. Nothing, that is, compared to tomorrow, the officially named "Ladies Day". Now, that is something. The Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool One, a shopping centre, alone expects to sell the "essentials for the meeting" of 38,700 pairs of stilettos, 10,000 clutch bags, and 2,000 LITRES of fake tan.

But understand that Liverpool women have their own separate, collective, style. It defines them and they are intensely proud of it. And Aintree is the showcase for it. You won't see many girls from Chester dressed like it, whatever their background.

By the way, I never saw a Harvey Nicks tent or repair station, but anyone who thinks that the girls dressed in traditional Aintree garb (see pictures in link) are aware of Harvey Nichols, or know of the shops, or would care if they did know, is utterly deluded.
