Currently all I have is standard freeview. I've been looking into cable and Sky but I just don't think I'd get my monies worth out of them.

Has anyone got Freeview + and would you recommend it? I pretty much just want to record things I know I'll miss that won't be on any catch up channels.

Dads got YouView and not really a fan. I still think I'd end up spending money on something I don't get enough use from.
Buy a freeview box with recording facility, cost about £80-£100. They tend to allow Pause live TV too. I bought one recently as a present for someone who works anti social hours from Argos - it's a Bush and cost £89. Works well and she is thrilled. If you want IPlayer, etc. for Catch Up, they are a lot more expensive.
We purchased a Sony freeview+ box - it was around £160 - but it records 2 programmes whilst you can watch a 3rd - The HD pictures are great - very happy with it
