Almost Unable To Drink At Social Occasions....

Following on from Joko's thread below, what do we feel about those that you know are drinkers but for the evening concerned have chosen to drive and hence nurse a pint of shandy all night? I'd rather they didn't come that base the whole evening on getting home afterwards! Ok it's my birthday so I'll get a round in, "just a J2O, I'm driving" aaaagggghhhh do they have cabs on your planet?

I agree with sensible drinking. My husband will often just have 1 pint and then go onto something non alcoholic if hes driving. We still have a great night out with friends etc. Drinking just makes you more unhibited,(is that the right word) it doesnt make you happier or more friendly

I'd rather someone who was invited turned up than not and if that means they don't drink then so be it. As Sara(h) says: fun isn't alcohol-dependent.

Lol, not the same at all.
I asked how people would feel if lack of drink was used as an excuse for them not to attend and important event - not telling people they shouldn't go out unless they drink your way.
I couldn't care less what people drink, for the simple reason its none of my business.
I am not screaming about it either.

i enjoy a drink same as the next man, but I often volunteer to drive as I can have just as good a time sober, and if I had to be drunk to enjoy myself I would take a serious look at my lifestyle.

I love a drink as much as anyone (and a lot more than some lol) but I gave it up for three months a while back and it was only that I realised just how obnoxious some drinkers can be towards those that choose not to. Even though in back on it I would still much prefer to drive home than pay for a taxi (except for a very special occasion). Anyway, in my experience, J20 in a bar is as expensive as a 'proper' drink!
