pill to delay period

We've got a big family holiday coming up in a few weeks and it looks as if my period may arrive bang in the middles of it :(
does anyone know what the pill is called that i can take to delay it, and also how it should be taken?
If its to be taken from start of preiod before then i will be too late to get it so just want to know before i make appt at GP.

If my memory serves me right I think I took it a few days before the period was due and carried on taking it for a bit after, can't rmember what it's called either, sorry, twas a while ago, worked though.

It's called Norethisterone. I use it whenever I Have a holiday coming up

vodka and coke is correct.....it must be taken 3 times a day, three days before period is due.
