Scanning Photos

Is it an acceptable method just to use my Epson printer/scanner to scan photos to my computer? If I scan several at once is there a way to cut them into individual pictures to store?

If you have a digital camera you will probably find its quicker if you simply take a digital photo or the original photo. Probably better quality than a scanner.

Hmmm - Not wishing to contradict Richard...but the answer lies in the quality of the scanner. A decent scanner will give you a very good result, and allow you to place several originals on the glass plate then 'select area to scan' so you can effectively do each photo as a separate image without the faff of reloading the scanner each time.
The issue with taking digital camera photos is getting the original nice and flat and avoiding skewing the angle at which the snap is taken.
The old document camera setups allow you to avoid those pitflls, but who has those now?

You can fill the plate full of photos if you like, and then cut them up with the snipping tool or any photo editor that can crop photos.

I would prefer to do each one separate and scan it at maximum pixels. A program like the free Irfanview can then be used to decrease the size while retaining the high pixel count for maximum sharpness.

I'm sorry Richard but your advice is total nonsense!! You clearly need to learn to use a scanner.

Just scan as many pics as you can fit into scanner and then crop using editing software, personally I would scan them all separately for best results.
