Diet Of A 1 Yr Old.

Morning everybody : )
I just thought I would ask re the above as I visited my teenage son and his (ex) to see their baby(my 1st grandchild) last week to deliver birthday presents for this week. Maybe I'm out of touch but I was a bit shocked by what she was being fed. Before I took baby, mum,my son and I out for lunch(son had to go bk to work) I asked her what baby was eating these days. " Anything and everything". " Everything??". " Yep she has exactly what I have." "
Fast forward to lunch.Mum is just about to order proper lasagne - for the baby - when I gently pointed out that they did rosy posy pasta for 10 months plus, so she ordered that, but still proceeded to feed baby with constant mouthfuls of her own meal which was -garlic doughballs, chips, burger, cheese, and full fat coke, which she sucked up into a straw and then dribbled into babys mouth. I was pretty shocked at this point, but didnt want to spoil a nice day and get told " Its not your child".
On dropping them home she asked if i could sit with baby whilst she nipped to corner shop, she then returned with a few bits - and unwrapped a whole Milky Way and gave it to the baby in her babywalker - a whole one!
Now I dont want to cause a row but surely she shouldnt be eating all of this? The salt? the sugar?
Any thoughts??

We ate healthy home cooked meals but being in the pub, that also had a sweet counter, I helped myself to all the junk I wanted. Next door was a chip shop....
They just need to make sure that the little one is as active as possible.

Actually, Ummmm makes a good point. My little'un was a proper little chubber (I mean rolls and everything!) and we had to take her to a dietician because the dragon health visitor came to the conclusion that her diet must have been so awful. As soon as she started running around, the weight just fell off.... lucky cow :P
Yes,you're all right - I just really worry. Mum adores baby but she doesnt take her to park, to any mother and baby groups, nowhere. She just pts her in the baby walker all day. The only time she goes out is when my son has her and he takes her to feed the ducks etc. I dont quite know what the problem is - maybe its her age. She just wants to sit indoors with her mates round and keep baby inside.
She does say she has seen the doctor for depression before, when she was younger(she's only 17 now!). Not a huge amount I can do living so far away. I do txt/call her a lot, and her mum ,dad and nan pop in quite a bit.
re chubbiness, actually thinking about it my youngest was premature and only 4.5 lb, by 8 months he looked like a sumo wrestler - even though he was fed the prefect diet! So yes, I see you point.....lol
