Time traveller

For some reason a tv series that I watched a few episodes of in 2000/01 (?) popped into my head the other day but I can't remember what it was called. It involved a guy who was recruited from the airforce (or something like that) to pilot a time travel device that looked sort of like a sphere. His job was to go back in time to prevent events that harmed the US in some way.

Don't remember too many specifics but I think one episode involved him trying to foil a group of terrorists that were trying to fly a plane into the white house which may explain why it was taken off the air (either that or I was the only one watching!) Anyone got any ideas?

I think it was called 7 Days as the hero could only spend 7 days in the past to prevent what was going to happen in the future/present

That used to bea a real good show but they stopped showing it here just as the 9/11 stuff started to kick off.
