I got my 2 Yorkies back from the vets earlier today - Dillon has had 25 teeth removed and Maisie has had 18 ...... how do dogs generally cope when they've had a lot of teeth removed - I don't fancy having to liquidise their food for them :P

....... oh ...... and did I mention the £500 vet bill ????

OMG! They must have been in agony to have so many teeth so bad they needed to come out. Had they never had their teeth looked at in their lives before?
In answer to your question, I only know that the little rescue dog I took on had just had 14 teeth removed when I got her and she managed to eat.

We've had them approx 4 1/2 years (they're both 8 years old) and we reckon that their teeth were bad when we first got them.
They didn't seem to be in any discomfort, it was only at the last visit to the vets that the state of the teeth was pointed out ...... I'm still reeling at the shock of how many teeth they both had removed >.
Bet they are as well. They must feel so much better. And I bet their breath smells sweeter:-)
I had a cat with very few teeth, her gums toughend up and she managed to gum things to death!!

There was not a thing she could not eat!!
Listen, I hate to tell you this but my father used to take his teeth out of his mouth at meal times and eat with just his gums. And that included Sunday Road!
Our last dog(Jack Russell) Lived to the age of 19. He had no teeth for the last three years of his life. Didn't stop him eating . I don't think dogs chew their food like us. They should be ok with soft dog foods.
£500 bill -ouch!!
Karmen used to be able to gum chicken drumsticks to death!!!
they cope quite well, go onto senior biscuits and soft food, i,e, cooked chicken & rice until gums harden up.
Our cat Violet Elizabeth Bott only has two teeth now we put a little water on her senior biscuits and serve her pouches with jelly, she has been like this for over two years.
My Jack Russell wolfs down food - she rarely chews. I'd go with meat rather than biscuits.
