My wfes aunty hasaBidet and has rung me to say that the plug has stuck in the closed position, she has tried with a nail file to prise it up but she says there isnt any gap, as you would expect if it is water tight. Apparently you cannot get at the workings/rod that control the plug mechanism . Anyone any ideas how i can move thisplug? Is it likely to be magnetic for instance?

It sounds like a "pop-up" waste. The type with a rod to push it open. Her best bet is to try and unscrew it. They're threaded in order to be able to make height adjustments.
You need maybe a small piece of sandpaper (to give some friction and grip). Press hard down on the sandpaper and turn anti-clockwise.
It'll be hard work, but you may be lucky.

Otherwise, it's a case of getting into the rod mechanism.

The builder's suggestion sounds as though it may work. If it doesn't, try pouring some hot water into the bowl, leave it for 2 - 3 minutes then scoop it out. It may just loosen the plug enough to free it.
