Tilly, boiling kills the enzymes in bio powder that is the reason it works as it does! Anything above 40°C can stop them from working.
i have tried anything and everything - I'm good at burning things! fairy (washing up liquis) platinum has been great for me in the past few months. It's only a quid, but it's bloomin marvelous. soak the pot in the fairy for an hour or so, problem solved!

The waahing powder has got rid of the worst so I'll try the salt trick tomorrow. After that it's a hammer and chisel.
Cheapie diet coke is awesome at getting rid of burnt stuff on pans - pour in to cover burnt bit, boil and leave to cool then wipe.
A tablespoon or so of Bicarbonate of soda boiled up in the pan - works a treat. Useful stuff, it will also get those nasty coffee and tea stains off cups and mugs and as well as cleaning your teeth.
I was going to say the same as friedgreentomato, its the best I know
actually any fizzy pop will do
washing soda works in the same way as bicarb.
Put a handful of soda into the pot with some water, bring to the boil, simmer for about 10 min, turn off the heat and let it cool down. You can leave overnight or swish it out now depending on how badly burned the bits are. This works for any burned pot, just adjust your times for how bad it is.
