seen this and was wondering.....and please no big debate on Islam with me cos i cba.... ive deliberately chosen two things that anyone muslim or not could have a view on...

http://m.guardian.co.uk/politics/2009/feb/17/counterterrorism-strategy-muslims

the first • They believe in jihad, or armed resistance, anywhere in the world. This would include armed resistance by Palestinians against the Israeli military. (its the second sentence here im referring to)

the second • They fail to condemn the killing of British soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan.

so does this mean that if i support armed resistance by palestinians and wont condemn the killing of british soldiers in those countries i would be viewed as extreme yet my mate who isnt muslim but has same views wouldnt be?

some Afghans yes, some Afghans no, I expect. Given that they're one of the least cohesive nations in the world, how could it be otherwise?
Er that's not really an either or Fender.

They are an occupying force - they invaded the country and remain at the invitation of the government they installed.

The elections in 2010 were a farce - there was intimidation 3 candidates were killed, 21 candidates were disqualified 81 polling stations didn't open

62 candidates were disqualified after being elected.

The turn-out was well down on what everybody was hoping for.

There's no clear consensus for anything - much less for Western troops.

IMHO that was the point at which we should have started to withdraw - if only 1 in 3 of them could turn out to vote in a western sponsored set of elections there clearly wasn't enough desire to have us remain there
jake // only 1 in 3 of them could turn out to vote //
May I remind you only 1 in 3 voted in our local elections last week . Does that make it of no consequence ?
