I don't often go to night clubs any more but as it was my wife's birthday and its what she wanted to do So i went .
Now I had no idea what the time was in this club but I went up bought two bottles of beer .
Five mins later one the bouncers came over and told us u have five mins to drink up were closing so asked him do u expect us to down this bottle he said yes or leave it.
I went to the bar to complain as they aloud us to buy two drinks with no time to drink it . The bar staff said they can do this.
I'm not happy about this but who could I complain too and not just the club .
There is no such thing as drinking up time any more in England (15 mins in Scotland). The premises licensing approval will be displayed somewhere in the premises. The licensee has the right to ask you to leave any time after this.
Sorry, I don't think that any offence has been committed.
Although, I do understand your frustration. The bar staff should have said "You only have 5 minutes to drink it" or words to that effect before they made the sale.
I can only suggest writing to the night club owners.
I don't know the legalities (betcha you're surprised at that aren't ya?) but my gut is feeling sorry for the staff at that place who I assume wanted to go home reasonably on time, I can imagine nothing more frustrating than having to hang around whilst someone leisurely finishes their drinks.
