It's practically in every scene now, someone with a mug in their hand which is obviously really empty, pretending to drink. It's becoming annoying.

I pretend to drink wine from an empty glass.

I thought everyone did it...?
that really annoys me as well, along with food that is played with but not eaten
I've noticed that Dave. It's one of life's little irritants. Why can't they have a drink in it to make it look realistic.?
It's probably just a theatrical/drama device, to save the actors wondering what to do with their hands.
I honestly can't say I've ever noticed it.

What I do find odd though, is if there's a scene in a pub, then they'll have something in the glass and will drink it - so why just fill the mug?
it amazes me how many people is soaps buy a drink or a round then leave in a huff etc before touching them, thats not the world we know lol
They do it on all TV Shows, something to do with avoiding accidental spillages apparently,I agree it is very annoying but not as annoying as the "On the House" drinks and the "Keep the change" with almost every order.
I've never ever noticed that! You lot are a lot more observant than me.

Also how come they can afford to drink regularly in the wine bar throughout the week when everyone knows the price of drinks in 'wine bars' are usually very expensive. The knicker factory and the local shops and cafes must pay very good wages!
It'll be an austerity measure, they certainly can't afford real drinks now.
We are not meant to think about it too deeply.
I certainly don't, I worry more about where my next coffee is coming from.
Dave, Dave, sit down and relax with a nice cup of something hot. :)
One of the problems is that the actor tips the cup up too far, even if they have been handed a freshly made mug of tea or takeaway cup of coffee.

Aside from the weight issue (they look as if they are holding an empty cup), if they were to tip a cup up as far as they do, the contents would be all over their face.
