What Is The Likely Outcome If Found Guilty For Section 18?

My partner has recently been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and I would like to know what to expect. At the moment he is is on Bail until he has to go to Magistrates Court but I expect it will be dealt with in the Crown Court.

A few months ago my partner was on a night out with some friends, they had alot to drink and I believe drugs were involved too. His close friend had a few too many and was asked to leave the bar they were in for upsetting a member of staff and being aggressive. My partner stayed out for a while longer and then decided to call his friend to see if he was ok. His friend did not answer the phone so my partner popped by his flat on the way home. His friend did not answer the door. My partner opened the door and went in to see he was ok (my partner often let himself in which was always ok with his friend) His friend was asleep on the bed fully clothed with the lights on. My partner attempted to wake him which was when his friend jumped up in shock and pulled a Stanley knife from under the pillow and began waving it about. My partner tried to calm the situation down but he said it was like his friend didnt know who he was and was completely out of it. My partner tried to get the knife off him but in the scuffle his friend grabbed it back and cut his hand quite badly. His friend had to go to hospital and have surgery and stitches. The police arrested my partner the same night.

My partner and his friend have since fallen out as his friend needed time off work and constantly harassed my partner for money (which I thought was fair enough for his loss of earnings) but then he began demanding £6000.00 as he was told he could claim that in compensation. My partner refused to pay up and because of this his friend went to the police and made a statement against my partner making up a fake story. Funnily enough though at the time he said he was too out of it to remember what actually happened. I think his friend felt bad because he and retracted his statement soon after and said he would not attend Court. It was too little too late and now the police are continuing with the evidence they have such as blood stained clothes, the knife with finger prints and a medical report confirming his friends injuries. He has been charged with Section 18.

My partner unfortunately has previous from his younger days and has been charged with ABH and Common Assult before :(

Could anyone advise me what to expect as I am very worried at the moment.

Okay, simple question, if the City of London is a sovereign state, why does the law of a foreign country (England) apply there?

The problem princemac is that you probably think everyone is a 'sheeple' because in general, they believe the known word of the law and don't particularly believe what you're saying - however just believing everything you read on a website written by ‘just a person’ is also being a 'sheeple'.

I have read various sites too that make all these sorts of claims and much of it is assumption, twisted logic and ignorance and most don't stand up to scrutiny.

But, sometimes some of it makes some sense, and sometimes some of these 'legal loopholes' are true and 'work' - I have a mate who is a bit of a campaigner in these things and I have seen with my own eyes that 'some' of these sorts of things are genuine.

But you must research ALL of it properly, and get the facts absolutely straight.

Thanks for your replies. Its a bit confusing as some comments have been deleted. I hope I didnt cause an argumentative debate. I was desperate for a bit of advice

Joko - The reason why I didnt blame him was because they have been friends for 20+ years and the situation turned aggressive because of drink and drugs. One of them got hurt and needed 5 days off work at xmas time. It was MY OPINION that his friend get a weeks wages because of their drunken antics as he had to miss work. Maybe not my partners opinion but it is/was mine.

Joko - Its not always as straight forward as you think. I dont think anyone could say their reaction until they are faced with knife crime. My partner did not set out to hurt anyone however unfortunately alcohol and drugs were involved. I cant comment really as I was not there. I found this site for some advise as the partner of someone charged with Section 18. Thanks for replying Joko

dont go stressin yeah leve them use wat thay want to use if the witness is nt goin to court u dont av to worry i mean that even if thay had all the everdance thay need for u boyfriend with out the witness thay can nt do Sugar if u knw 100 percent that hes nt going to court tell u bf to walk in the courts smileing at them all thay cant do Sugar to him im willin to put a bet on that wat thay will do is try and get him plead gulity to a lighter charge tell u bf dont fall for that either ok i knw my law Sugar trust me ive been in the crimanil life style for yrs nw been going bk and fore to court for the past 14 yrs so just beleve me yeah when it comes to this Sugar i knw everything and dont worry about wat cat this falls under it it a very serious charge and if found gulity u can get life but dont let that worry you bf plz nw beleveme ok im tellin u the truth if u need any information contact me 01656 857944 ill answer wat u like k
