Is there another option for sending a parcel abroad, instead of Royal Mail or by courier?

You could arrange direct with the airline to transport your parcel, but it would almost certainly cost heaps more than the Mail.

Some road transport companies that go to France/Europe will take small parcels as a bonus earner. You'd have to ring around - and take the parcel to the dispatch depot, which in itself may not be feasable.

If it is a small parcel you could try a couple of dozen balloons, but you'd have to wait until the wind is in the right direction.

Please inform us all if you find another way.

There are loads of companies that deliver abroad, parcelforce, anc, ups, interlink and many others good luck
How big is it? Where has it got to go?

Its a digital cam Im sending, about 1.5 kg boxed, and sending to Peru. I have been told to try Serpost, but how does that work? Is Serpost Courier?
No - Serpost is the equivalent of Royal Mail in Peru. If you send your parcel Royal Mail it will end up with Serpost in Peru. I can't see how you can send it with Serpost from the UK.

In a general sense ALL companies offering parcel services are couriers, including the Royal Mail. What other sort of option were you looking for? I can't think of one.
Question Author
well I basically wanted to send the parcel to the SERPOST office near to the recipient, and not directly to their household, but how do I do this? Would I need the office's address where she lives? Its all complicated cos its a surprise and so I cant exactly ask the recipient!
Can you send it airmail by Royal Mail? 1.5kg as a small packet (which I think you should get away with) is 14.83 to Peru. Don't think you will get it much cheaper. I sent a 1.3kg packet about the size of a tissue box to Canada last week for about 12.50 and it only took 3 days.
