Meal/snack Ideas
11 Answers
Am trying to think of some new ideas for meals and snacks to get into my diet that fit with food issues and help me lose some weight (bit of a steroid blob at the moment) and get healthier.
It seems I'm lactose intolerant so no dairy is key and need to try to keep things low fat as I still struggle with fat since having my gallbladder out.
I'm also supposed to be seeing a dietician to go on a low residue diet in a few weeks to help a bowel condition so no high fibre/wholemeal anything, nuts, dried fruit, skin or seeds or fruit... I can eat refined white bread, white pasta, rice, noodles etc... Any veg has to be well cooked so no steaming or stir fry :( Raw veg and bean like stuff like peas and sweetcorn (gutted!), broccolli, cabbage, cauliflower...
I'm also allergic to some fruits as they make my mouth go funny, like apples.
Sorry, bit of a nighmare to think of ideas so thought I'd see if anyone on here has got any good meal ideas. Just been and got a load of weightwaters nibbles to cut down for snack items and have just made a nice orange jelly with some tinned peachs slices and mandarins :)

If you like chilli you could do chilli con carne without the kidney beans. I make chilli with turkey mince and tip in one of those schwartz mixes, a tin of chopped tomatoes and bulk it out with a tin of whole button mushrooms and a diced red pepper. You could bulk out with some other sort of veg such as ocra or sliced celery.
Soup with white bread, as potatoes seem to be OK make the soup with potatoes. Looks as if you're going to have to go for a high protein diet which helps you lose weight.
Skinned chicken/turkey/fish with cooked veg and potatoes, pasta or rice will all go down well. if you want a sauce go for condensed low fat low fat mushroom soup or other low-fat soups (or of course you make your own).
Non-acid fruit like bananas should be Ok

Great ideas, thank you :) I've been stocking up on jelly to make up with canned fruit which I can have as a pudding or part of lunch at work. Ice lollies too as I'm a bit of a beggar for getting the munchies in the evening.
At the moment I'm eating mainly a naughty plain croissant for breakfast at work (about 7am) then a banana and some of those breakfast biscuits about 9am (reckon the breakfast biscuits will have to go on the low residue though as they have wholegrain in them). Then for lunch a low calorie cereal bar (also will go), plain ham sandwich (one round of bread) and some crisps, try to stick to lower cal ones like Quavers. For tea I have been having two wraps with loads of salad, tomato, cucumber, some coleslaw and garlic sausage as thinner cut and lower fat/cal. I suffer with the munchies after though.
I seem to be ballooning lately though :( I know steroids don't help but really need to try and lose weight to relieve pressure on my joints and can't get much exercise as mobility not great.
