my son has just slammed our kitchen door into the kitchen worktop and chipped a piece of the trim off the end of the laminate worktop.
we have only had the kitchen fitted a year ago and this is the first damage so i am really disappointed that this has happened.
Can this be repaired at all? ...it is the end of a piece of trim that is about a metre long on the end of our counter where our sink is. can this whole trim be taken off and replaced?...
Yes it can.
I once chipped a piece off in the same place. The work top was black and as the chip was only about a centimetre I coloured it in with a black felt tip pen. No-one ever noticed and I soon forgot about it.
Pop down to Band Q or Homebase and in the kitchen worktop section you will find metal screw on end finishers in black or silver.
That sorts the problem once and for all.
I loved the look of the oak the same colour as the flooring. it's the first bit of kitchen you see when you walk in,the end where the sink is and this edge. :O( can the wood coloured edging not be replaced and then i will do something with the door to stop it knocking into the worktop .
we have sorted this out. we went back to Howdens and was able to buy a couple of lengths of the edging material for very little cost . my bf heated the damaged bit of edging along the entire length with a hairdryer and was able to remove it and glued on the new piece. sanding the edges to make them smooth to touch once the glue was dry.
