Hi all I am due for a cortisone injection in shoulder but am thinking of cancelling as really is wrong is limitation but definitely no pain. I don't want to be getting it done if it is no good also I heard you can't use arm for 48 hours whatever but at the moment I am nursing my wee dog and do have to lift him etc. What would you reply? Thanks for any answers.
I'm due for some in my shoulders tomorrow. They referred to sorting my shoulders out so if I can't do anything with my arm for 48 hours then I'm guessing I would only get one done (they did say they don't usually do both hips at the same time though they did for me though).
Work on Friday would also be tricky.
Wish they'd warn us about these kind of things if it is the case.
Best thing I've had done too about 4 years ago. My shoulder ached a bit for the first night but was certainly usable and then a miraculous cure - but then mine was injured and I was in a lot of pain.
Years ago I was due to have a cortisone injection for tennis elbow (extremely painful) then the doctor changed his mind and put me on anti-inflammatories instead. No pain, but took 18 months to get better.
I have had it in my elbow twice now and it has really helped. I had my arm in a sling for a day and was advised to not over-use it on the second day. You would be silly to cancel it as it does help.
Cortisone pads out the gap between the bones ( so i am told) and acts like a lubricant while the bits are healing. i had it my shoulder dozens of times, it gave releif for a few days, but as I was working at the time it never had time to heal up. There was no pain after the injection and my arm felt better almost straight away.
I really didn't want to have the injection, and put it off, but then my shoulder was so stiff and painful that I had the injection. It was pain free (injection was at the back of my shoulder), took 2 days off work as advised, and it did the trick for me. The pain went and I was able to sleep!
I've had them in my elbows and knees .Bit achey for a while but then ooooh what a relief .I would get it done and over with .You'll have more mobility in the shoulder afterwards.
Followed your advice and got it and my doctor was fantastic. Touched the shoulder where it was excruciating - (never looked) stuck the needle in and as he was putting on a bit of gauze - I said to him have you more to to do - nope, that's it - the best needle I have gotten into me even my arms and hands.
GRRRRRRRRRRRReeeeat. Told me to wait for 2-3 weeks for the mobility then I can book another one - Oh I have suffered for nearly a year and half - MUST REST THOUGH. Bye and thanks for your all answers.
