sometimes when a person is ill(flu/fever etc) and has light vomiting some friends claim that such vomiting is good as it is "throwing out lots of bad stuff in the body and therfore cleansing the insides" - is this true?

depends why you are being sick and what you are bringing up.

If you have food poisoning, then yes its best to bring it up but if its the flu its better to keep it in as it will help your recovery.

if you are just throwing up food that isn't off then its pointless to throw it up, but i suppose gettimg some bile out may help you feel better.

as i say, depends on the cause

I agree with joko, infected matter is best ejected, the reality is whatever is in your stomach is thrown up, nothing more.

Your usually sick once the toxins (flu etc.) have entered into your system, by which point its too late. Also most flu viruses are airborne, so not easily tranmissable by food.

Obviousley if you have drank shed loads, then its better out than in, as is out of date food etc.

I normally feel better after being sick if I am ill, but this is just because there is a release of pressure from inside the stomach/intestines.
