One For The Women

Did you find that you were turning into your mothers? If so, at what age did you notice this? A survey of 1,000 women, conducted by Dotty Bingo, revealed that just over half felt they did, and dated this to turning 31. The daughter's mother was reprimanding our very young daughter and suddenly exclaimed "My God, I am turning into my mother!" because she'd just used the very words that her mother used to her. And most women ascribed the change in themselves to becoming mothers.

I used to use the odd phrase that my mother used when dealing with the daughter.
The one thing I swore I'd never say, even if I felt like it was "You're not going out of this house dressed like that"

It's when you see young girls dressed up to go out in mini skirts and tummy bearing tops, not wearing a coat or jumper - I just look and think - they must be really cold! and I know that comes from Mum.

Not sure about people turning into Mothers but I did used to have an Uncle who turned into an Aunty ! Very confusing when you are only 10 years old.

mikey, you have now disposed of one of my father's favourite sayings :) When presented with a childish hypothesis beginning "If", he'd say "And if your uncle was a woman, he'd be your aunt".

Ah, we were innocent in those days!

Sadly I'm nothing like my mother. She was a fantastic housewife - cleaner, cook, gardener etc. etc. She was always busy knitting, darning or crocheting. She was a wonderful mother to 9 and Nana/great Nana to too many to count! Her door was always open and no matter who went in there was tea and cake. 37 years since she died and we all miss her every day.
