My mum made me one of these for me for a fancy dress competition when I was about 8, she used an old dress and the frll bits off a lamp shade, I won first prize.

Thanks, I know they are old dresses, but I have not got a lamp shade with tassles, I want to say thankfully, why oh why do I chuck anything old out,
There are loads available from fancy dress stores on the web. Simply google 'flapper dress' and click on the 'Shopping' link at the top of the page.

Oh. Sorry. You've tried...
I have no idea where you live but I once hired an original outfit from a costumier in Twickenham.

It might be worth a thought.

Bucks?

Anywhere near to Aylesbury? (Unit 5 March Place, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP19 8UG, to be precise):

or possibly Chalfont St Giles?

Buy her a pattern for a simple shift dress and some Material and fringeing from a fabric shop, she can choose her colours etc. and after the party remove the fringe and she has a new summer dress .all her own work and less expensive for you, unless she gets the dressmaking bug like my youngest daughter did!!
I haven't checked but given the number of studios in the area finding a theatrical costumier shouldn't be too difficult for your daughter to sort out. I'm quite sure there is one around Marlow.

Her event, her outfit, her headache! You can tell I'm not a mother, eh?
There's a fancy dress shop in marlow- jolly's?
or this C St Peter
