Diabetes?
32 Answers
long story short, my diet and lifestyle has recently been appalling - but I'm starting to get a bit worried now - For the past 3 or 4 days, I've noticed that after eaten certain things, like chips or pizza, or even a "big" meal, not only do I get stomach ache, but I feel incrediably tired very shortly after eating.
Recent examples are, I had a pasta meal, and was absolutley fine, then later, had a chip butty, and felt like I was about to pass out I was so tired! Yesterday was ridiculous, I woke up, felt fine, then my friend said they were getting a pizza, after that, again I felt insanely tired, and I found myself sleeping for another 4 hours, after having had 8 hours previous, so I didn't "need" to sleep, but felt like I had no choice.
Once it got so bad, I could hardly walk or stand, and had to go home early. My friend gave me some lucozade, and we were joking that it might make me feel better, it actually did a little, but when I got back home, again, I was that tired, I crashed on the sofa and slept for about 10 hours, What The Funicular.
I'm not over weight, in fact, under weight but I don't really understand food groups and what types of different food do, and how they can affect you. Like, why would I be fine eating a pasta meal, yet feel like I'm about to die after eating a chip butty?
Just curious if this is something worth going to see the GP about or not?

Thank you for your well-mannered and reasonable question. I think I have explained all in my post to LazyGun above. Please note that a few parts addressed to LazyGun do not apply to you in anyway. I regard his post as mere inaccurate sniping. Note that he moans about me at great length without a word to the most important person in this thread, dannyday5821.
Luv,
SIQ.

I feel like this after eating certain foods, I can be buzzing around and work, then all of a sudden I stop, like I've hit a wall. I feel like I could fall asleep any moment, and become rather confused (a shock to you all, I'm sure!) I usually take an antihistamine and I feel semi-recovered in a short while. I'm reluctant to go to the docs too, mainly because I work long hours and feel the doctor will fob me off because of this. Try a few weeks on healthy food, danny. Pizza and chip butties are wonderful, but have hardly and, if no health benefit whatsoever. If no change, then go to your GP
@SIQ - I rarely "shoot from the lip". My post was considered, based upon your own words from your post.
Your response to the OP was hostile, arrogant, condescending and patronising -not to mention out and out scaremongering.Urging someone to see a GP, stressing why this might be important is all good - scaremongering like yours is not.
Offering personal insult and demeaning their level of medical knowledge will do nothing to aid an individual. How does humiliating a poster on a public forum, calling them a fool and sneering at their lack of knowledge offer positive encouragement to a poster? All it does do is give you a vehicle with which to stroke your own ego.
You have previous form in this - you were rude and dismissive in a previous health-related post and were pulled up for it too.At least in that thread you had the decency to recognise your rudeness and apologise for it.

LazyGun,
I don't come here to get into feuds - OK you don't like me - nor my posts on this topic. That's OK by me.
You've tried to make your point once but unfortunately you used many inaccurate words derived from your apparent telepathic reading into my attitude, posting-motives and apparent pretentiousness etc. I answered this first complaint in full.
You're still at it!
And you well-know that the other issue was nothing like you are making out. For those interested, the other health issue is under "what is causing my tiredness?" but please read ALL of everyone's posts when you get there.
LazyGun, go on and on as long as you like, especially as you can try to demean me without any response from me. I'm not here to respond to your tirades - just to try to help dannyday5821 (remember him?)

I do remember the OP SIQ - it was him who you labelled a fool, whose medical knowledge you scorned - it was him who you suggested might keel over in a diabetic coma unless he immediately sought advice from his GP - blatant scaremongering - all justified by you in the guise of aiding the OP by using "tough love" and blunt speaking.
Take some lessons from Sqad, who is frequently blunt in his opinion but rarely if ever offensive. or patronising or demeaning. You manage all 3 in one post, surely a record....
Lest we forget.
You professed shock at the OPs ignorance in everything they post
"Well..I am staggered by your lack of knowledge in almost every area you discuss"
You offered personal insult
"Get to your GP ASAP, fool!"
You indulged in scaremongering
"(5) To scare you into action are you sure your abnormal sleep attacks are not comas! I doubt it but it's not out of the quesion."
"IF YOU DON'T ACT YOU COULD COLLAPSE IN THE STREET AND END UP IN HOSPITAL - with your apathetic mind-set that would eventually be a good thing."
All of this speaks to self-importance rather than concern for the OP.

Dear Connemmara,
I have just read your post which arrived while I was writing for the last time to LazyGun (please see above).
For the details you'll have to read previous postings and work it out.
If your question is a way of saying stick to the questionners topic then thank you very much and very well done.

Hi dannyday - I'm a type 2 diabetic, but the advice you're getting on here, some good, some not so good, is going into overload.
Simply get down to your surgery as soon as possible. If it turns out you are diabetic, then you must listen and take note of the advice you are given.
Hopefully, it could turn out things aren't as bad as you think. Good luck anyhow.

SirOracle, thanks for your understanding however I do not need consolation as I believe my approach has been correct in danny's case. Anyway my only hope is that he clears his problems up - irrespective of who said what. But you are very kind and I appreciate that.
Annieigma, I am sorry to hear of your stroke and am pleased that you were helped by ABers. I have read your other views and cannot say more than wish you all the very best in regards your future health.
wiltsman, well done for your encouragement to danny hope he's well soon.
FINALLY TO ALL ABers - I am not here to be the new topic and wish all would concentrate on dannyday5821! But NO APOLOGIES from me for ANYTHING I have said whatever. Now that's it - situation unchanged.
Luv to all,
SIQ.
