...not me, but The Parents. Theirs first and only move in their 61 year marriage. Only one house in 62 years - wow. All 4 of we children born and brought up there.

They are moving into a brand new bungalow and not before time - dad being 84 and the stairs, large garden and 3 bedroomed house has long been too much for him to manage on his own (mum gave up housework, cooking & any form of physical exercise years ago. But let's not go into that one...)

It's going to be a tough day - physically for dad, emotionally for mum. It should be exciting for them, its a lovely bungalow, but no dubt she'll turn it into one of her weeping dramas.

Home is where the heart is. And my dad deserves a rest - long before the Ultimate Rest of all.

Best wishes to you and your parents Salla. I am female and have never felt attached to any house. Would love to move again but logistically difficult at the mo.
If there is still time get your camera and take as many photos of your parents old house, before it is wiped from your memories for ever.

I only wish I had done the same in the house that I spent most of my childhood in.

the house that i spent my child in was damp, falling apart and rat infested. We moved out when the council condemned it.
I really hope everything goes well and your parents are happy in their new home, we've lived in our house for twenty years and keep saying we are going to put it up for sale and downsize, I'm dreading the day we actually do.
