Reasons To Be Cheerful ?

I could be miserable as sin – there is a lot of carp in my life at the moment :
• Coping with bereavement – loss of someone who had been like a mother to me
• Work – or lack thereof, my NHS contract finally ended for good this March
• Money – about £600 per month worse off (see above)
• Health – chest infection and associated problems still not finally sorted, knackered knee still giving me pain and stopping me enjoying walking with the dogs (fingers crossed for physio to work, but not overly confident)
• Holiday cancelled – couldn’t fly because of chest infection
• Insurance aggro – it ought to be simple to get the holiday money back – but (as usual) it isn’t
• My house is still falling down a coal mine – and UK Coal is still stalling on repairs/compensation – which also means that (after nearly five years now) I still can’t sell up and move on
• ... and the weather is rubbish, which has meant I have hardly been out on the bike this ‘summer’
But actually I’m as happy as a pig in muck – I have some wonderful friends (from here and elsewhere), I live in a lovely village (although it would be even better if, as fluff might have typed, I loved in a lively village) and there is just no point in maundering around.
Life’s too short, it’s not a dress rehearsal, so the only way is ‘onward with a smile’.
