vivaro stop and battery light??

hello my friend has the battery light and stop light lit up on his vivaro van 54 plate dci for a few weeks now and he rang me yesterday saying he could smell burning he opened the bonnet and some smoke come out but he wasnt sure exactly where from altho the van drives great still,but hes rang me today saying the smoke is coming from the fan behind the radiator,i went down started the van up drove it round 15 mins then let it tick over in the street 20 mins and it seems the fans not working has it burnt out is that his problem has would this put those lights on the dash cheers????

with computers on cars and van yes i would think that when the repairs are done they might reset themself, if not you might go to a garage to reset the computer on the van.
