We Brits are a fairly quiet, complacent lot, who are always reasonably happy as a rule. We are not like Jonny Foreigner, jumping up and down at the least excuse and getting all hot under the collar all the time. That would be far too vulgar for us.
Also our weather has a lot to do with forming our national character. Someone once said that we actually don't get bad weather in Britain as such but its just that we seem to get such a lot of it ! The sun coming out has contributed to our happiness as much as Mr Murray I would suspect.
