apparently the BBC Trust's charter enforces separation of powers so that it has no power over payoffs.

same old story, get paid off from one high profile post, pension, move to another high paid job, equally high pension, seems irrespective you are any use to that organisation, be in BBC, NHS, or indeed local and central government.
