I need to buy a pair of trainers, however, I do not want them to be produced under sweat shop conditions-so nike and adidas ,(and I assume most of the other big names) are out. I also want them to be funky! Anyone know of any shops, areas in the uk? I don't mind travelling to find/buy them.I saw an advert ages ago in the Big Issue for an ethically minded company that made clothes. They were in Manchester.I don't know if they made trainers too though........

Actually, I think you'll find that Reebok's are ethically produced, but I'd advise you to check them out. I recall reading about it in a biography of Peter Gabriel of all places - they sponsored something of his, and it made the point that they were ethical traders. Hope this helps!
There's a sportswear retailer called Epona Sport, based in Newcastle, who claim to be 'ethical', promoting fair trade and fair wages for workers etc. Their web site is eponasport.com.
you could also try a shop called 'vegetarian shoes', who do mail order also. cant find address but im sure its easy to find
Try http://www.ethicalwares.com or http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk Both well established ethically aware and veggie shoe/clothes vendors.
