Anyone know how to polish out windscreen scratches ( very light ) caused by using wipers whilst blade holder touching windscreen. The car is too old to justify spending the money on a new bonded screen.

Have you got windscreen insurance?????????

Try asking a windscreen fitter shop if they do repairs. Or you could ask if they have any jewellers rouge, a red fine abrasive powder to polish the scratches out with. You use it as a paste (mix with a little water) and is very hard work but it does remove scratches. It may be that the scratches you have are beyond repair this way tho'. Good luck!

ps, if your screen gets broken (if u know what I mean) insurance normally covers it but there will almost certainly be an excess of 100 or so towards a replacement! check your insurance details.

I'll try the jewellers rouge - I know where to get some so here'e hoping .......
Another point is it could fail the MOT test and you may have to change it anyway if you can't polish them out. A breakers yard would be the cheapest place even if you get a windscreen fitter to do it.

Take a look at the link (if it works). The windscreen scratch repair kit is fantastic. I had exactly the same problem as you and after 20 mins and a little work the scratches were gone. I really would recommend it and for 20 it's worth a go. Like I say mine worked perfectly.
