Do You Look Beyond The Things You See?

Like it or not, we daily see things we would prefer not to see, and when we look at the daily newspaper or the television screen, accounts of injustice, cruelty, and tragedy leap out to tug at our heartstrings.

Sometimes they ask me how I can believe in God. Their reaction is understandable, since most religions do not encourage their believers to ask for proof of what they are taught or to do research for their beliefs. However, the Bible encourages us to use our “thinking ability.” (Proverbs 3:21) All the evidence of intelligent design in nature, together with evidence from the Bible, convinces me that God not only exists but is also interested in prayers.
Admittedly, your background may stand in the way of you enjoying an intimate relationship with Jehovah.
So again If there is any material giving, to charities for instance, it is because there is need to salve a conscience, or because one’s reputation is at stake.
There is very little giving of the kind referred to by Christ Jesus when he counseled: “Do not let your left hand know what your right is doing.” (Matt. 6:3)
God’s Word, the Bible, foretold that “in the last days . . . men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, . . . unthankful”—2 Tim. 3:1, 2.
And if you are all still reading you might benefit from some of its wisdom because after the Bible’s fight that lasted for centuries the Bible was finally given a wide distribution. It is now available in so many languages and in such great numbers that it has become the most popular book in the world.
So you should see by all the above the emotions of love and hate are associated with the heart of you people.

@ Goodlife.
There is no evidence for intelligent design in nature. Thats just what faithheads choose to see, mostly because they rarely have a true understanding of science, or biology.
And from you, buried half way down, and admission that JWs do not "do" charity, coupled with the weakest of explanations for such a lack - Charitable giving is exclusively linked to salving a conscience or guilt? This is really distasteful stuff. The next verse is just nonsense- it literally makes no sense. What does "the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing" have to do with charity?
And, you know, just on a minor point - just because the Bible is the most widely distributed book in the world does not make it the most popular. Reading "Hello" magazine would be infinitely preferable for most people, I imagine. Reading the back of a cornflakes packet would be more factual and more useful.
I think I will contact the Charities Commission, because it would be useful to get an answer from them as to why we should consider JWs a charity and therefore enjoy a privileged tax status when they do very little to deserve it...

Incidentally, out of curiosity I visited JW’s official website, hoping that maybe it could offer reasoned insights into its policies.
Nah. No justification for anything at all beyond quotes from the book.
I have no problem with religious faith; it’s a source of comfort and guidance for countless millions. But JWs take it to the mindless extreme of blind faith, and that is downright dangerous. Islamic extremists will justify acts of irredeemable evil by quoting (or should we say interpreting) passages from their version of scripture with no attempt, at any point, to back it up with reason.
JWs appear to be pretty much the same thing but without the bombs.

Goodlife, //it [charitable giving] is because there is need to salve a conscience, or because one’s reputation is at stake.//
Rubbish. Don’t assume that the rest of us are burdened with your own pathetic failings! The word ‘altruism’ doesn’t exist within your sorry, selfish, world.
anaxcrosswords, don’t expect straightforward or honest answers. JWs don’t have any.
