Theists believe the bible is true which means all the vengeance meted out by God resulting in death and suffering is true.

On the other hand Agnostics and some Atheists say if a God created the universe he is/was not responsable for what has happened on earth.

All that violence , cruelty , injustice to millions is entirely the result of man's actions.

Simply said non-believers see God , if he exists , in a much more kindly light than believers. Quite a paradox !

It is claimed by some that the god of the OT frequently insisted on genocide. In practice it was probably just blamed by those who wanted a bloodletting.

That does seem to be true. I'm an atheist, but not worried if I'm wrong as i don't believe I've done anything evil enough to be punished for. If my lack of worship is a major problem, then i don't want to spend eternity with a god that egotistical anyway.
I believe in no religion but I do believe in a force which created the universe and is present where there is life; call this force what ever you want but in my opinion it is positive. So if this force were to be called God then it would be said that I have a kinder attitude to him than people who believe in God in the Bible.

Sorry this is in the wrong section . This is the third time I've tried to rectify it but it fails to submit.
Would you mind copy and pasting your answers into R&S they look interesting.
Read your old testament. The god of the OT frequently insists on genocide.
The followers just do as they are told, and wipe out neighbouring tribes in order to destroy their gods and take their land. I think that means that the OT god IS responsible, and in the eyes of his followers the OT god rejoices in that responsibility.
After all, one of the commandments says "For I am a jealous god"

atlanta Aren't you just repeating what the OP said .
//Theists believe the bible is true which means all the vengeance meted out by God resulting in death and suffering is true.//

What's your new point ?
Atheists don't believe in God full stop. And not all believers take every word of the Bible literally.
'non-believers see God' surely a paradox in itself.
It is claimed by some that the god of the OT frequently insisted on genocide. In practice it was probably just blamed by those who wanted a bloodletting.
I believe in god but do not believe that the bible is true...so there is hole 1 in your argument...also what about people who are members of organised religions who are not "people of the book"

woofgang I'm having trouble answering it wont submit. However I'll try again. My OP was directed towards the believers of the bible and when I say Theists I am referring to those who regularly attend a place of worship Not those who just say they believe in God in the same way they say I'm CofE.
With regards to other religions e.g Hinduism , Buddhism and their branches , they too have a history of violence but like people of the book,
their gods frequently get the blame but IMO their imaginary gods are not to blame , Man is.
