Guarantee For A Replacement Hard Drive
1 Answers
i had an ext western digital hard drive that had a 2 yr guarantee
the drive failed after about a year later, and i returned it and got a replacement.
that failed after a few weeks, but as i was busy i didn't get round to sending it back for a while - now it seems the guarantee on the new item was not 2 years, like the other one, but only 3 months - which they did not tell me - its says nothing about it on the delivery note.
have i any rights here? i assumed that each new drive came with a 2 year guarantee as standard - otherwise its like saying its ok for a brand new drive to fail after 3 months and its fine!
its bad enough both drives failed after very little use, but to say i cannot have it replaced seems unfair.
any ideas?
thanks

When you bought the drive you had a two year warranty and that warranty should still be in force for two years after your initial purchase regardless of the number of replacements.
The replacement drive will not come with a two year warranty but should be covered until your initial warranty expires. You would then be in the same position you would be in if your drive had not failed.
