Has anyone heard of a company called Tower Investigations LTD?
I received a letter from them today, stating:
We act on behalf of a client and are currently conducting an investigation in order to establish/verify information held.
In order to help us progress with our enquiry we would greatly appreciate it if you could contact us to confirm a few details. you can do tis by contacting us on Freephone 08004580811
All assistance provided is used discreetly, no information is disclosed to any third party. All help received is treated in the strictest confidence.

Now the strange thing I noticed about this letter is, first of all it does not state who the client is. Then under the signature there is no name. I then decided to go to there website www.towerinvestigations.com only to find there is no website. This is very strange, should I be worried about this or just ignore it. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Colin

A web search suggests quite a few articles about this company

Tower Investigations Ltd was set up in 1997 as Tower Debt Recovery Ltd, changing its name in 2004. It appears to work closely with Global Debt Recovery Ltd although they don't share the same registered address (as often happens when there's really a single company operating under different names). Global Debt Recovery Ltd was originally known as Tracing Associates Ltd and its website makes it clear that they still work in the same field:

Basically it seems that one of those companies is chasing up old debts from information supplied to them by the financial industry (such as a credit card company). You can probably simply ignore it but it might be worth taking out a free trial (and then cancelling it before any payment is due) with Experian to see if there's anything listed on your credit file that you don't know about.
