So they don't want fracking, wind generators, nuclear or any new power stations apparently. So where is the electricity going to come from in the near future ?

Naomi...you make a very good point with sea water. There are plans to build a tidal barrage across the Severn Estuary, although it doesn't look very likely that it will ever be built. Firstly, the cost would be horrendous and the Government, of whatever political hue, are unwilling to foot even part of the bill. Secondly, I will bet a pound to a penny that if construction were to start, rent-a-mob would turn up and protest, thus ensuring the total cost is even higher.
There were plans to put an off-shore wind farm, about 8 miles off the coast of Porthcawl and hundreds of signatures were put on a petition, that "it would spoil the view"
8 miles ? Spoil the view through a telescope perhaps !

I have been impressed with hydro generation. A small one opened near me last year that generates electricity for 100 homes. It is on a small river, the Goyt, and is 100% renewable, clean and has nil environmental impact and after the plant is paid for, is free.

100 homes isn't many, but there are thousands of rivers in the UK that this could be applied to, and tens of thousands of miles of river. Even if we got to only 3% of total UK energy generation by this method, the need for dirty generation like fracking would be voided.

i hate wind farms, they are one of the things i truly hate, there aren't many, but those i can't forgive, useless, heavily subsidised and often redundant when the wind doesn't blow. Why didn't they see this coming, nuclear power is the answer, not wholly but it's a start. There was supposed to be EDF i think who were going to build them in UK, not sure if that plan went by the by, if so, someone better get their thinking caps on.
And why is it rent a mob, if people don't like fracking, or having their homes, land destroyed, aren't they allowed to protest.. After all many who turn up in the capital to protest do so freely, whether they have a genuine grievance or not.
