1.My wife, aged 81, is disabled with Parkinson's disease, but can enjoy reading.
2. She belongs to a book club which meets monthly to discuss a book that they have all read.
3.She would like to have your recommendations for books that you have enjoyed and which you found were real page turners.
4.Anything except science fiction and horror, please.
5 i have tried looking up sites like goodreads.com and Amazon Kindle but did not find these very helpful.

Anything by Marian Keyes. I have just finished 'The Mystery of Mercy Close.' It made me cry with laughing. The previous one 'Rachel's Holiday' is excellent too.
I can't recommend Marian Keyes highly enough.

Knowledge of angels by Jill Paton Walsh;
Stasiland by Anna Funder;
The kite runner by Khaled Hosseini;
One big damn puzzler by John Harding;
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel;
The boy in striped pyjamas by John Boyne;
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett;
Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones;
Poisonwood bible by Barbara Kingsolver.

Hope there's something here that appeals.

Lee Child's books are all good page turners. If its books for discussion at the book club how about Isabel Allende's Island Beneath The Sea or in fact any of her books.

Just read a lovely book by Maeve Binchy - Minding Frankie. I love her books, but for something grittier, Linwood Barclay writes a cracking story, his latest Trust your Eyes is out now.
