I decided to give my new hat its first airing and wear it to Chapel this morning. A crow sh@t on it as I walked down the street. I have two questions. Should I take this as an augury that this is an unlucky hat? And, the second, how do I clean it?
Tell me the story Of the queen of this land And how her own son Died at her own hand Tell me the story of young Cuchullan How his eyes were dark His expression sullen Of how he fought and always won Bad how they cried When he was fallen
The new avatar is a detail of a fountain near the shrine containing the precious bones of St James in the cathedrel of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia.
Love your hat Sandy. My dad (who was also Sandy by the way) always wore a hat when out. Bunnet for work, panama for in the garden or on holiday and a trilby for best. He had quite a selection. Hats off to you - pardon the pun.
It does seem a bit expensive. I've dipped into my savings to get it. I'm banking on a mild Winter and I'll use my winter fuel allowance to replenish the savings.
I'm amassing a wee collection too. A few cloth caps for ordinary days, a Tilley for sunnier ones, and now this for 'best'.
There was a young fella called Sandy
Who went into a pub for a shandy
He lifted his kilt
To mop up some he'd spilt
And the barmaid said, "Blimey, that's handy."
true, sloopy, they may even offer to do it for sandy, given the circumstances. A very neat hat that will have stokey envious - could go horse-racing in that, if it's the broon one.
I feel your pain if it's been christened like that for the amount it cost you. Let it dry and brush it off gently. I'd say it was lucky for you that you were wearing it though. Like your avatar by the way.
