I saw some breaking news earlier about a search for two young boys possibly missing by the sea on the Isle of Wight.

I checked back just now to see if they had found them and had to search a bit for the article saying they have called off the search:

Is it just me or does it just sound a bit strange. If it is a hoax, why would anyone do that and the emergency services must have their details, but if not, where are the parents?

It certainly seems strange but people ring 999 for no good reason all the time. Stupid people who ever they are.
I would hope the parents would have the manners to call off the search. Just hope the boys are safe.
Probably lost sight of them for a while ("because you can't watch them all the time"). Panicked. Reported them missing. Search instigated. Children found by parents playing nearby. Gave them a larrupping. Went home. Forgot to tell the coastguard that children safe and well.
I have been following this news Eve as it is local to me, sadly it does appear to be a hoax. Apparently a person approached a lifeguard on the beach and this spiralled . Although the press should confirm this, it is only hearsay .
