my 13 year old son is on my passport can we still use it to go to spain from the uk or does he need his own 1

For Spain he is still OK on your passport.
i thought all children now had to have their own passports - I'd check with the Passport Office if i were you - wouldn't do to get to the airport and not be able to fly cos some jobsworth won't let the lad onto the plane

If your passport does not expire before you return your son is still OK to travel on your passport, ie. he won't need his own.

Check the expiry date!
