i want to send someone an email giving information , but dont want them to find out my identification, can they trace my home address from my email address ??

Not unless your email address is something like [email protected]

Most people will email addresses which don't identify them too obviously. If in doubt though, just set up a hotmail email address.

If the information is something like
I'm going to burn your house down tonight"
the police could probably pin you down in a couple of days
especially if you are using your ISP's mail address

if it's returning a questionnaire - a private individual or company couldn't get access to the info
