Talking Things Up

Earlier this year, I bought a flat and a town house in the town, and I've been looking at one or two others recently.

I was initially irritated by the way that selling agents will talk things up. They show you inside what you assume is a storage cupboard, and tell you it's a study which could be used as a double bedroom. "Good sized" seems to be the most popular phrase to describe something that is minuscule. "It has a good sized garden". "Where? Beyond that tiny little courtyard, which presumably leads on to the good sized garden?"

But now ... I really enjoy it ... in fact, I love it ...

When I look at a derelict bomb site in the arse end of bandit territory, I long for the twelve year old estate agent to tell me it would benefit from minor cosmetic improvement, or that the terraced house in between a recently released murderer and someone off the Brighton sex offenders register has potential as a lovely family home.

Anyway, err ...

I've run out of steam. I can't remember my original point.

Just thought I'd mention it.

I suppose, by the same token, sections of AB where nobody ever goes (History?) might be described as having great development potential. The sections where they always fight, like R&S, would be lively and popular spots.

Bijou, yes.

It sounds like a fashionable maisonette with a roof garden, in the heart of the trendy district ... but actually just means smaller than you're expecting.

Estate agents are a curious bunch...

I'm looking for house of this style in this part of town, my budget is £x. EA sucks teeth and tells me I won't find anything within that budget. Err thanks I've viewed three this week and have some more lined up for next week....

I looked at an 'Executive' four bed house that was so small it could not accommodate the furniture from my one bed flat.
