I made a dress for a do on Sat night. Just put it on, or not as the case may be cos despite measuring everything to within an inch of my life I must have put on an inch.

So how do I lose an inch in 2 days? Either that or buy a new dress - which I cant really afford because I have the biggest vets bill in the world to discharge at some point over the next day or so and we are off to Italy next month.

Would a different bra help?

Alice, I just laughed out loud at that mental image.

I've tried just about everything Tilly. Strapless bra, basque, corset, fat tube. Basically, I must have screwed up the measurements.
I hope you have left some slack in the seams, barmaid.
Cut it in half and make it into a top and skirt?
elasticated waistband!!

Waist and hips are fine CK - infact I need to take them in a bit.

I can probably take about 2/8ths off a seam Tilly, that's not going to help. I think I might be inserting a panel - not sure yet, going to tinker with some scraps and my sewing machine for half an hour.

Top and skirt would look odd Ed because of the design and the pleats that go from the bodice into the waist.
Contrasting inserts or sparkly stuff in both side seams?
i can send you some curtains?

*runs away bloody fast*
If the waist and hips are fine but the bust is tight.... wear it upside down lol

open the side seams and add a contrast panel
Have you got a death wish, Tony?
Have you got any lacy material - that could look good.

have you a dress in your wardrobe that you havn't worn for a while
Don't eat and go to the Turkish baths, like wot jockeys do.............
Oh God just go in a bra and knickers
you are sure to stand out, and be talked about !
How about this. On the day you need to wear the dress book into a beauty salon for one of those body wraps that are meant to reduce your size by just an inch or two? That might be enough so that the dress you made will fit. Then you don't have to do anything drastic, there are quite a few reasons as to why you have gained that inch, and it might be that it'll disappear as quick as it appeared
