Then it changed to audience-participation via tele-voting only.
But that wasn't ideal either as it meant ex-pats abroad could still vote for their own country, and plainly did so - for example Estonia suddenly started giving 10 points to Russia.
So a few years ago they introduced a part-jury part-televoting system which seems to have helped.
The problem is it that I've never seen an explanation of how that actually worked.
I actually suspect that there's very little if any actual bribery. To have any real overall effect it would need to be on a major scale. But on the other hand maybe the bribers are too stupid to realise that.
