London show
8 Answers
I wish to take my 10 year old daughter to see a London show, but I don't know which to choose. I thought she may be too old for the Lion King and too young for Billy Elliot, but can anyone suggest anything else, or tell me if these would be suitable. Also where is the best place to get tickets on the day of the performance? Thank you

It's wonderful to see a post from someone who recognises that 10-year-olds should be experiencig live theatre!
The Lion King is incredibly popular (with ticket prices to match!); it's definitely suitable for ALL ages, so it should certainly be on your list of 'possibles'. If I was taking a 10-year-old to a stage show in London, however, my first choice would have to be 'Stomp':

Many performance of big London shows (especially Lion King) are sold out months (or even years) in advance, so I certainly wouldn't recommend waiting until the day of the performance. If, however, you are looking for same-day tickets, there are only two places which you should really consider. The first is the box office of the theatre you wish to visit. The second is the ticket office in Leicester Square which is jointly run by the main London theatres. (There are hundreds of places in London which claim to offer cheap tickets for the big shows but you should generally avoid them).

just to repeat everyone else - definitly go to the lion king! i went to see it with my boyfriend (we are both 22) and it was incredible!! the music is amazing but the costumes are breathtaking! she will love it i promise - and you will too! i have recommended it to everyone i know from 10 -100!!! you wont be dissapointed! p.s. check ticketmaster.co.uk for tickets - or ebay!
My daughter requested (no, demanded!) to be taken to see The Lion King for her 18th birthday - and her 21 year old brother insisted on accompanying us! We (the parents) had aready seen it and couldn't wait to see it again. I would suggest that a 10 year old would LOVE it, unless she's too grown up for her own good! Enjoy!
I saw the Lion King when I was 14 (I think), and thought it was excellent. Although it is more or less a stage production of the film, it's worth going to see just for the costumes!
Although, be warned - if you're not in the posher seats (which I wasn't) the tiered seating is the steepest I've ever seen! My friend got a little giddy, so if you're terrified of heights you may want to take that into consideration when booking tickets.
It is excellent though!
